Spears taken by ambulance to hospital

What : Police confirmed to the Associated Press early Thursday that Spears had been taken from her home by ambulance. A Los Angeles police officer, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the matter, told the AP the 26-year-old pop star was being taken to "get help."

How: The ambulance carrying Spears was escorted by more than a dozen motorcycle officers, two police cruisers and two police helicopters, the Times reported on its Web site, citing unidentified authorities. It would be the second mental health hold for Spears in less than a month. She was hospitalized the night of Jan. 3 after a child custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline resulted in an hours-long standoff with police.

Who: Gunmen killed an opposition lawmaker in Nairobi early Tuesday, an attack likely to stoke the ethnic fighting that has gripped Kenya since last month’s disputed presidential election.

Gunmen Take Students Hostage at Pakistan High School
Who: At least 30 students and teachers were taken hostage Monday when gunmen burst into a Pakistan high school, police said
What: Pakistani Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz said there were between 200 and 250 children inside the school at Wali Dar village. It was not immediately possible to reconcile the different accounts.Security forces have surrounded the school and police are negotiating with the gunmen, believed to number five or six, holed up at the village school near the town of Bannu, said district police chief Dar Ali Khattak

Report: Detained Teen Allegedly Intended to Hijack Plane From Los Angeles to Nashville
who: A 16-year-old boy passenger from California was arrested in Nashville for plotting to hijack a plane from Los Angeles to Nashville
what: FBI spokesman George Bolds told The Associated Press the 16-year-old boy was removed from Southwest Airlines Flight 284 Tuesday night by authorities at Nashville International Airport and found with "suspicious" items.

How: Bolds said the teen had handcuffs, rope and duct tape in his bag and was believed to be traveling alone. The juvenile's name has not been release. The teen is believed to be suicidal, Bolds said. Bolds said he could not comment further on the teen's mental condition because he is a minor.
Bolds said the teen was calm throughout the flight and never made an attempt to hijack the plane but told the FBI after he was apprehended about his original plans to commandeer the aircraft.

WHAT:Omar bin Laden, who works as a contractor, said he is talking publicly because he wants an end to the violence his father has inspired violence that has killed innocent civilians in a spate of attacks around the world, including those of September 11, 2001.
WHEN :The son of the most-wanted man in the world spoke Sunday to CNN in a quiet, middle-class suburb about an hour outside Cairo, Egypt.
HOW:He said he hasn't spoken to his father since 2000, when he walked away from an al Qaeda training camp in Afghanistan with his father's blessings. He said he has no idea where his father is, but is confident he will never be caught because locals support him.
