Don't forget your manners this spring break

WHAT:There's spring, the time of year marked by fresh growth and new beginnings.
And then there's spring break, those few short weeks from mid-March to mid-April when families visit theme parks or grandma's house and college students whoop it up at beach parties and nightclubs.
WHEN: THURSDAY

HOW:During the busy December holidays, plenty of novice travelers get mixed in with seasoned road warriors. That plugs up the highways and makes the long lines at airport security checkpoints even longer. The same things happen during spring break. So give yourself plenty of extra time to get where you're going and give these inexperienced travelers a wide berth.
Be especially kind at the end of each week. That's when kids and their parents are apt to be cranky and when college kids and their friends are apt to be cranky, sunburned and suffering from major hangovers.

The CO2 State
WHO:
WHAT:If Texas were its own country, it would be the 48th most populous in the world, right between North Korea and Ghana. In terms of landmass, at 268,000 square miles it would be the 40th-biggest. But when it comes to environmental impact, Texas is on par with some of the largest, most industrialized nations on the planet.
WHEN:Were the Lonestar State to secede from the union it would be the world's eighth-largest emitter of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, just behind Canada, with 630 million metric tons spewed into the atmosphere in 2005, according to new figures released this week by the U.S. government's Energy Information Administration. That's actually a reduction of 40 million metric tons since 2003, when Texas was the globe's seventh-largest CO2 contributor. But even though the state is improving, Texas still outpaces the combined emissions of California and Pennsylvania, the states with the second- and third-highest CO2 outputs.
WHERE: Texas
But it's not just industry and agriculture that give Texas such an outsize carbon footprint. Texans epitomize America's penchant for overconsumption, so much so that they've even coined their own phrase for superlarge portions: Texas-sized. The state's 23.5 million residents use nearly 3,000 more kilowatt-hours of electricity every year than the average American and a higher percentage of them drive large, gas-guzzling vehicles

when:Friday
where: New york
how:Desir had complained of not feeling well and being very thirsty on the Friday flight from Port-au-Prince after she ate a meal, according to Antonio Oliver, a cousin who was traveling with her and her brother Joel Desir. A flight attendant gave her water, he said.

After the flight attendant refused to administer oxygen to Desir, she became distressed, pleading, "Don't let me die," Oliver recalled.
Other passengers aboard Flight 896 became agitated over the situation, he said, and the flight attendant, apparently after phone consultation with the cockpit, tried to administer oxygen from a portable tank and mask, but the tank was empty.

However, several defense officials told The Associated Press the missile did apparently destroy the fuel tank.
